BITS – Guttersnipe Theatre

SLUT DROPPING and SCANTILY CLAD BABES were NOT what Lolly, Mace and Gruesy wanted to include in their show. However the powers that be have other ideas. Faced with the harsh reality of the show biz industry, Lolly, Mace and Gruesy have had to make some compromises. These three oppressed creatures attempt to take the space but are consistently squashed, squeezed and silenced in this new meta-theatrical extravaganza.

An explosive exploration of our expectations of women. Lolly, Mace and Gruesy are here to make some positive disruption even if it means tearing apart their own show.

Tales – Bait Theatre

A bruised princess teeters through a commuter town carpark on broken stilettos, the juice of a poisoned apple dripping through her fingers. High up in a tower, golden curls tumble to the floor and a girl clambers out into the night on sweat knotted sheets.

This is a show about the stories that make us. A punk feminist quest to explode the tales that trap us. It’s about sex and love and power and choosing. About knowing where and when you begin because you choose to begin there. It’s about the girls we were and the women we will become. Join BAIT on a glitterbomb rave through tall tales and urban myths old and new, battling into the bright lights of the long, dark ever after.

Young Hot Blood – Longsight Theatre

How far have we come? How far would you go?
The Young Hot Bloods were a group of young women prepared to be on “danger duty” for the fight for women’s suffrage. Who are the Young Hot Bloods of today and should we be on their side?

Longsight Theatre will be gathering voices and stories from across East London – from activists to politicians, and school children to older generations, asking; where are we now and how far would you go? These interviews will form the content for a new play, Young Hot Bloods.

The show is inspired by the 1918 centenary of the right of (some) women to vote, and based on the struggles of 2018. Young Hot Bloods, a headphone verbatim play, will be first shared at From the Forest Festival.
In headphone verbatim theatre the actors perform whilst listening to the interview material on headsets; saying the lines a split second behind the original material. This is an intimate, exciting and honest form of story-telling.
In a hundred years from now will anyone be celebrating our victories? And can we even agree what we are fighting for? Is this generation as ‘woke’ as they think they are? Is this the beginning of a new era
